Resident Reports Intoxicated Subjects In Neighbor’s Back Yard
Lawrenceburg Now
A concerned Lawrenceburg resident summoned law enforcement officers to Pine Circle last week after noticing some intoxicated persons and possible drug activity in the neighbor’s back yard.
Lawrenceburg Police officers report arriving to find a female subject slumped over in the passenger seat of a vehicle and a male subject on the ground outside of the vehicle, near the front passenger side.
Officers report that as they attempted to check his pockets for identification, the man “started turning sideways and throwing items from his pockets onto the ground.” They report finding fourteen Xanax bars and a syringe that had been discarded along with another twelve Xanax bars lying on the ground “in close in proximity to both subjects.”
The male subject was identified as thirty year old Jay Claude Jakes who resided next door at 1005 Pine Circle. The female was identified as Kasandra Karr Brink, age 22, of 506 Virginia Drive, Lawrenceburg. Officers report that both appeared to be highly intoxicated.
Reports show that Jakes acknowledged ownership of the syringe and a portion of the Xanax. Two additional Xanax bars were found in his front pocket during a routine search. Brink was said to be in possession of an empty prescription bottle that had just been filled the previous day. She told officers she did not know what happened to her pills. Jakes told them that “he had run out and she had given him some of hers.”
Jakes reportedly told officers that he had used the empty syringe to inject meth earlier. Brink advised them that he “had attempted to shoot an unknown substance into her arm with a large animal syringe” he had purchased at a local business. Officers noted that she had multiple needle tracks on both arms.
Both Jakes and Brink were incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center without bond. They were both scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on November 5, 2015.
